Nude Tights | Fashion Faux Pas or a Wardrobe Essential?

Nude tights are an absolutely essential part of everyday dressing for many women,
while for others they are a complete nightmare. So when should this controversial piece be worn and
when is it better to leave it in the wardrobe?

Many fashion stylists dislike nude tights, and no wonder. Women often wear them for
occasions where they should not be worn, drawing attention only to bad taste that can ruin the whole outfit.
You certainly will not see nude tights in fashion editorials, on catwalks, on the red carpet or in magazines.
Instead, you will see black or another bolder colour, lace, and pieces with patterns or actual hosiery.

Etiquette of nude tights

According to etiquette experts, nude tights are worn mainly during the day to work, during
business meetings or for more formal social events. They give the body a polished look
and should be worn where bare legs might seem inappropriate or unusual.
Stylists recommend them for workdays when a woman has bare legs during a
meeting, or for a ball, the theatre or another social event where she is wearing a shorter dress or
skirt.

What should you watch out for? A woman should always choose the right shade of nude. If she is wearing
a colour that does not match her skin tone, the tights can look unnatural. At the same time, always prefer
matte tights without shine and in higher quality for the most natural appearance. Another aspect that needs attention is the thickness of the tights, indicated in DEN. An incorrectly chosen size and type can make the legs look heavier and unattractive, which turns tights into an off-putting piece that only spoils the whole outfit.

When not to wear nude tights?

The modern fashion world, which is constantly evolving, has somewhat turned its back on nude tights. A woman should
avoid them, for example, with sneakers, where they can make the outfit look unflattering. Nude tights
also do not need to be worn to a social event if a woman has a long dress that covers the entire
legs. I definitely do not recommend wearing them, for example, with a black dress, which calls for the same
colour underneath – black – to unify and complete the final look beautifully.

Tip: If you will be wearing tights with open-toe shoes, definitely choose a pair that
has a transparent toe.
